Observation : External thinning , smooth areas
Cause : Fireside Corrosion Erosion Remarks : Abrasion from fly ash may cause erosion, corrosion may also occur as sulfur deposits become acidic during shutdown or cool gas temperatures. This type of corrosion is more prevalent in oil-fired boilers and in the back-end of the gas path i.e., economizers.
